On Wednesday morning, former NFL player Sergio Brown is expected to appear in court in Maywood, Illinois, to answer to charges pertaining to the death of his mother.
In relation to his mother’s passing, Maywood police formally accused 35-year-old Brown on Tuesday with first-degree murder and concealing a dead body.
The former NFL safety spent more than two weeks in Tijuana, Mexico, before being first captured in San Diego on October 10.
On October 12, Brown gave his permission for extradition, and he was taken back to Illinois.
On September 16, family members reported Brown and his mother, Myrtle Brown, missing.
She had several wounds from an attack, and the Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled her death to be a homicide after an autopsy proved this.
Myrtle Brown’s family released a statement following Sergio Brown’s arrest expressing their hope that the inquiry will provide additional information regarding the unfortunate occurrence.
Myrtle Brown’s body was discovered next to a little nature trail along Silver Creek, which passes by her home.
She was a nice woman who was always helpful and pleasant, according to her neighbors.
Brown is expected to appear in court on April 9 at the Maybrook Court House, located in the Maywood neighborhood of Chicago.
