Many Ghanaians are expressing their outrage over a viral video showing a former Deputy Communication Officer for the NDC, Hardi Pagazaa, invading Dagbon Radio to assault the host of a live show.
The victim of the attack, Sadiq Abubakari Gariba, was on-air presenting his show when the politician unexpectedly stormed the studio and started attacking him.
Apparently, before the widely condemned attack, there had been a panel discussion about the Ghana National Fire Service in the region.
With the microphone on and the presenter fully geared for his show, the two intruders quickly surrounded Gariba, who was still trying to figure out what was happening, and then held him by the neck amid baying and issuance of threats.
Gariba was able to stand up to the two attackers and drag them out of the studio before the altercation outside escalated into threats and he was eventually able to return to the studio. The victim of the attack later filed a formal police report about the incident.
It is still unknown what triggered the attack. According to reports, Gariba played a tape before the show started in which Pagazaa mentioned him on a sister station. Gariba refused to comment on Pagazaa, claiming that he was untrustworthy and that he did not want to discuss such people on his show.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation across the country, with many calling on the police to arrest Pagazaa and bring him to justice. The attack has also reignited discussions about the safety of journalists and media personnel in the country.
