Former Asante Kotoko striker Shilla Alhassan has weighed in on the current state of affairs at the club, calling for coach Prosper Narteh Ogum to step down from his role.

The Porcupine Warriors have been struggling in the Ghanaian top-flight, currently sitting in 11th place with only one league victory in 2024.

Ogum has been under immense pressure as the team has suffered six defeats in their last seven games, earning just a single point during that period. Frustrated fans recently disrupted training sessions, demanding the removal of the former WAFA boss.

In an interview with Kessben FM, Alhassan expressed his support for the fans’ call for change, stating that Ogum should resign due to the team’s poor performance. “If the results are not coming as expected, it is only right for the fans to demand a change. I believe Ogum should step down because things are not going well. Just like he resigned after leading the team to a league title, he should do the same now,” Alhassan remarked.

As the team prepares to face league leaders Samartex in their upcoming match, the Life Patron of Asante Kotoko, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for an emergency meeting. Scheduled for Thursday, April 19, 2024, the meeting will address the recent struggles of the club and involve discussions with the playing body and the Interim Management Committee.
