Former Inspector-General of Police, J.Y.A Kwofie, has sadly passed away. Reports from Adom News indicate that Mr. Kwofie died on Thursday, May 2, 2024.

He had been battling illness for a number of years, including dementia. At the time of his passing, Mr. Kwofie was over 90 years old.

During his tenure as Inspector-General of Police from January 1, 1990, to September 30, 1996, Mr. Kwofie made significant contributions to the law enforcement sector in Ghana. He was succeeded by Peter Tenganabang Nanfuri, who also passed away in February 2023. Mr. Nanfuri was known as the Paramount Chief of the Jirapa Traditional Area with the title Naa Ansoleh Ganaa II.

The passing of these two prominent figures in the Ghanaian community has left a void in the hearts of many. Their legacy and contributions to the nation will always be remembered and celebrated. Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families and loved ones during this difficult time.

As we mourn the loss of these distinguished individuals, let us also reflect on the impact they had on society and the lasting imprint they leave behind. May their souls rest in peace.
