Public Relations officer of Charter House and Host of Pundits on Gh One TV, George Quaye, has rendered an unqualified apology to the Gospel Fraternity.

George Quaye came under serious criticism after he passed a comment on the Tuesday January 27 edition of ‘The Pundits’ show that some Gospel artistes have approached him on several occasions to bribe him in order to win awards at the VGMA.

His comments infuriated several Gospel artistes including Cwesi Oteng who burst up on a radio interview and used certain unprintable words against Goerge Quaye.

But in a press statement, the Charter House PRO has said he should have known better as the executive who speaks for organizers of the VGMA who has on several occasions asked musicians to prove similar allegations.

He indicated that there is nothing that can justify the claims he made on live TV.

“Indeed there is nothing I can say to justify the claims I made on the show and nothing that has been said by anyone even to confirm or support that assertion matters at this time. As the executive that speaks for the scheme, a comment like that shouldn’t have come from me regardless it’s veracity or otherwise. If anyone has challenged and asked musicians or industry players that have levelled similar against the scheme to either substantiate with evidence or withdraw and apologise, it has been me.”

He rendered an unqualified apology to the Gospel Fraternity for his comments which dented their image and promised that it will never happen again.

“I therefore take my own advice, totally withdraw and also apologise to the entire Gospel Music Community of Ghana for my rather careless comment. It was unfortunate and it will not happen again. Again, I totally apologise for casting that slur on the Ghanaian Gospel Music Industry and any individual who might have been offended in one way or the other.”

The Charter House PRO promised that he will render a verbal apology in the next edition of ‘The Pundits’.
