Sharing the tragic news of the death of an American police officer is heartbreaking. Authorities announced late Wednesday (August 17 ) that a 29-year-old Florida police detective has passed away after being wounded while on duty.
The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Officer Cesar Echaverry was gravely hurt after a gunfight with an armed robbery suspect on Monday night in Miami’s Liberty City area.
After reportedly robbing a convenience store in Dania Beach and running away, Jerry Horton, 32, of Madison Heights, Michigan, opened fire on police.
Thankfully, the police claim that following that, the policemen shot and killed Horton and a second suspect, according to the report that has reached us.
The event is being looked into by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
Echaverry was taken in serious condition on Monday night and sent to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, according to reliable sources.
To demonstrate their support for Echaverry and his family, dozens of municipal leaders and law police personnel gathered outside the hospital on Wednesday.
The Miami Marlins baseball team honored Echaverry on Wednesday by wearing a jersey with his name and the number 9 embroidered on the back.
