Severe flooding caused by a rainstorm in the Tain District Health Directorate in the Bono Region led to the destruction of drugs and valuable properties worth millions of cedis. The incident, which also impacted households in the district capital, Nsawkaw, occurred on Monday.
According to Philip Appiah, a public health nurse, the facility had not experienced such severe flooding in about three years. He noted that the location of the facility between a choked gutter and River Nyinpine makes it susceptible to overflow during heavy rainfall.
Maybel Annor, a nutritional nurse, shared that the rain started around 10:00pm and lasted for several hours, causing floodwaters to invade their rooms and destroy personal belongings, drugs, and other essential items.
Desperate for assistance, the health workers are calling on the government to intervene and provide support to mitigate the damage caused by the flooding.
