Tramar Lacel Dillard, better known by his stage name Flo, was born on September 16, 1979, in the Carol City neighborhood of Miami Gardens, Florida, to his parents and family.
He has seven sisters, with the youngest being his twin. His sisters sang in a local gospel choir.
His brother-in-law worked as a hype man for the local rap group 2 Live Crew, and in ninth grade, Flo Rida joined an amateur rap group named the GroundHoggz.
Flo Rida served as a featured performer for The Eastside Boyz in 2000. He started teaming up with other Southern hip-hop musicians in 2004, including Rick Ross, Trina, T-Pain, and Trick Daddy.
His first noteworthy song was a commercial song with Rick Ross called “Birthday.”. On DJ Khaled’s album We the Best (2007), which also featured Trick Daddy, Trina, Rick Ross, Brisco, C-Ride, and Dre, he made his debut as a guest performer with the song “Bitch I’m From Dade County.”
