Dr. Ben Bishop Nyanihorba Ayamba, a Pusiga, Upper East Region native who recently earned a doctorate in guidance and counselling from the University of Cape Coast (UCC), has stated that he plans to start an NGO to improve society, particularly for people with disabilities.
It was at the Presbyterian Training College in Akropong that Ayamba completed his basic braille studies.
When Ayamba finished his Teachers Training College in 1999, he went on to the School of the Blind at Akropong for rehabilitation before pursuing additional education at UCC.
After receiving this assignment, he taught for two years at the Junior High School in Ntonso. In 2001, he enrolled at UCC to pursue his first degree, which he completed in 2004 with a degree in psychology and English.
After working as an English teacher for three years at Mampong Technical College of Education, he returned to UCC to work toward a Master of Philosophy in Guidance and Counseling.
“I lost my sight during a road crash in Accra,” Ayamba stated during a Thursday, February 1, 2024, interview on the Asaase Breakfast Show.
“My goal is to start an NGO that will influence society, particularly those who are disabled. Despite my current situation, I’m steadfast in my desire to lend a helping hand,” he stated.
