A fire outbreak on Thursday night consumed important documents and properties at the late Krachi East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) office in Dambai.

The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has launched an investigation into the incident.

The late MCE, Mr. Bernard Aborkugya Mensah, tragically passed away on April 5th of this year, after only serving one year in office.

He was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to succeed the previous late MCE, Francis Kofi Okesu, who had passed away in September 2022.

Assistant Divisional Officer 1 (ADO1), Stephen Agortor from the Dambai Fire Command confirmed the devastating incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

A passerby alerted the fire service around 10:00 pm when they spotted the flames. Despite the efforts to control the fire, everything in the office ended up being destroyed.

ADO1 Agortor mentioned that his team is diligently working to determine the root cause of the fire. Speculations from the public vary, with some suspecting foul play through arson, while others speculate it could have been caused by a power outage.
