Fenerbahce centre-back Alexander Djiku has expressed pride in his team despite their recent setback in the UEFA Europa League.

The Black Stars defender played a key role in Fenerbahce’s 1-0 victory over Olympiacos in the second leg of the Conference League quarterfinals, although it was not enough to secure a spot in the semifinals.

Djiku, who joined the Turkish giants last summer, put in an outstanding performance in the match. Fenerbahce had previously suffered a defeat to Olympiacos in Greece before the return leg in Turkey. The game went to extra time and eventually to penalties, with Olympiacos emerging as the winners.

Despite the disappointment of not progressing to the next stage of the competition, Djiku took to social media to praise his team’s efforts. “Despite this disappointing result, I am proud of this team and our always loyal fans 💛💙,” he wrote on X, previously known as Twitter. He also mentioned that they have one last goal in the league this season and are ready to work towards achieving it.

Since joining Fenerbahce, Djiku has become a key player in the squad. The 29-year-old has scored two goals and provided two assists in 29 games so far this season. Despite the Europa League setback, Djiku and his teammates are focused on finishing the season strong and achieving their goals in the league.
