Barcelona Eyes Leverkusen Star Jeremie Frimpong
In a recent report by Bild, it has been revealed that FC Barcelona is now in the running to sign Bayer 04 Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong. The Dutch-born Ghanaian player has made it clear that he wants to leave Leverkusen at the end of the season, making him a hot commodity in the upcoming transfer window.
Frimpong has caught the eye of Barcelona’s soon-to-be new coach, Hansi Flick, who has described the defender as one of his dream signings. Flick has reportedly placed Frimpong alongside Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich) as “indispensable” players at the top of his wish list.
With a release clause of 40 million euros, it appears that Frimpong’s departure from Leverkusen is inevitable. However, interested clubs will need to act fast and trigger this clause before the start of the European Championship on June 14.
But Barcelona is not the only top club interested in Frimpong. Real Madrid, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal FC, and Bayern Munich are all reportedly keeping tabs on the talented defender. This intense competition for his signature could drive up the price for Frimpong as these clubs battle it out for his services.
