A gender-focused account for women across several segments has been introduced by FBN Bank.
The account, known as FirstGem, aims to promote women’s economic empowerment and wealth building.
A second-level KYC (Know Your Customer) requirement on the account promotes financial inclusion for female professionals and business owners.
The introduction took place at the Ghana Association of Bankers’ forecourt on March 14 to also honor International Women’s Day (IWD), which is observed annually on March 8.
Victor Yaw Asante, the managing director of FBN Bank, said the bank took effort to ensure that women were at the center of their work and operations.
To honor female coworkers, clients, mothers, daughters, and other stakeholders in appreciation of their “effect on bringing positive balance to our lives and as a token of respect for them,” he said, the company has devoted the entire month of March to this cause.
When given the chance, women can lead talks about creating a society free of gender bias and discrimination, he added. “It is a truth that women play a significant role in the economic, social, and cultural growth of any community.
