As the Ga State royal family and traditional elders get ready to say goodbye to Dr. Ebenezer Nii Armah Tackie, the father of the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the final preparations for his burial and funeral started yesterday.

The King Tackie Tawiah Royal Mausoleum at Tesano in Accra will host Dr. Armah Tackie’s burial today. He was buried in June of last year; a funeral service will be held at the Ga Mantse Palace at 10 a.m.

Leading the Ga State in carrying out his father’s last funeral ceremonies is the Ga Mantse. During the three-day ceremony, prominent figures from the political establishment, business world, clergy, and traditional rulers are anticipated to attend the royal funeral.

The customary rites were performed at the Ga Mantse Palace yesterday, where the body was laid in state.

The funeral procedures will culminate with a thanksgiving service at the Calvary Baptist Church in Adabraka tomorrow at 9 a.m. Following the burial, the last funeral rites will also be performed at the Ga Mantse’s Palace.

Dr. Armah Tackie was a qualified architect and urban planner. Dr. Armah Tackie was a distinguished scholar with a track record in both research and practice, but he maintained his anonymity until King Teiko Tsuru’s elevation to the Ga Mantse stool propelled him into the foreground of conventional monarchy.

Dr. Armah Tackie had eight grandchildren in addition to the Ga Mantse. His other children were Benjamin Nii Tetteh Ahinakwa Tackie, also known as Paa Nii, Naa Korkoi Achereku Tackie, and Afi Atchoifio Okunoye (nee Tackie).

Lydia Naa Amerley Tackie, Mercy Naa Odey Thompson, Victoria Naa Amokor Sanders, Daniel Nii Armah Tackie, and Benjamin Nii Adu Tackie are his siblings.
