The murder investigation of executive banker Scott Callahan took a shocking turn when his son, Jack Callahan, was arrested for his father’s death. The incident occurred on June 28, 2021, when Scott was found dead in a pond after a night out.
Jack Callahan has been charged with murder in connection to his father’s homicide and has pleaded not guilty. According to prosecutors, Jack and Scott were on their way home in an Uber when Jack requested the driver to pull over after his mother, Wendy, informed him that Scott was intoxicated. A physical altercation ensued between the father and son, leading Jack to believe that Scott was possessed by an alcoholic and demonic spirit named Dirty Dan.
During Jack’s arraignment, it was revealed that he believed he was baptizing his father in the pond to rid him of the alleged spirit. Jack described holding his father in the water like a baby and dunking his head multiple times until he no longer struggled. The medical examiner’s office later confirmed that the victim had waterlogged lungs.
Jack’s trial for Scott’s murder began on April 8, 2024, at Plymouth County Superior Court in Massachusetts. Throughout the trial, Jack has maintained his innocence in the shocking case that has left many in disbelief.
