A man in the Shime neighborhood of Anloga District, who was presumably in his early 40s, was killed on his property near Devegodo.
On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, the victim, Maxwell Dzormatsi, passed away from acute bleeding from his cutlass wounds.
Both men went fishing in a pond that the deceased had dug on his farm at about 1200 hours, according to eyewitnesses.
As he attempted to stop them after discovering their unauthorized entry into his land, one of the men pursued him instead, and he ultimately used a cutlass to slay the dead.
When the deceased was taken to Adutor Clinic for medical attention, he was declared dead at the scene by some bystanders and one of the two accomplices.
When he described the incident to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Joseph Kwabla Kpattah, the presiding member of the Anloga District Assembly, begged the public to assist them in finding the culprit, who is now at large.
“It was an extremely sad event. We are searching for the culprit so that he can turn himself in to the police while the entire neighborhood is currently in tears. We beg the public to assist us in finding him.”
He offered consolation to the deceased’s relatives and assured them that justice will be done.
“The Assembly member for the Trekume Electoral Area, Mr. Gabriel Asemuasah, and I extend our sympathies to the family and the community, and we assure them that justice will be served accordingly.”
According to police sources, the occurrence has been verified, and the deceased has been laid to rest with her four children and wife in the Keta Hospital morgue.
