Diane and Joseph Barrino, Fantasia’s proud parents, welcomed her into the world on June 30, 1984. She was raised in High Point, North Carolina, and is an American black lady. She was raised by a mother, father, and two brothers in a Christian family.
She began singing in the church choir at a very young age and attended church every Sunday. Fantasia went from city to city performing and recording gospel music with her family.
When Joseph Barrino was a teenager, he started singing in gospel quartets. Along with two of her brothers, one of whom directed the church choir, she was a singer. Her mother Diane was also a co-pastor at Mercy Outreach.
Barrino’s father filed a lawsuit against her after the publication of her memoir, “Life Is Not a Fairy Tale,” arguing that the details she had written about him were false.
