The late Leslie Carter, an aspiring singer-songwriter and reality TV star hailing from Florida, tragically passed away in January 2012 at the young age of 25 due to a drug overdose. Leslie was not only known for her talent but also for being the sister of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter.
Born on June 6, 1986, in Tampa, Florida, Leslie was the third child of Jane and Robert Carter, and had older siblings Nick and Bobbie Jean, as well as younger twin siblings Angel and Aaron. Following in her brother Nick’s footsteps, Leslie ventured into the music industry and signed with DreamWorks Records in 1999.
Her music career took off with the release of the bubblegum pop song “Like Wow!” in 2001, which was featured on the Shrek soundtrack. Leslie went on to form the band The Other Half in 2006, transitioning to a more mature pop-rock sound. She also appeared on the E! reality TV show House Of Carters alongside her siblings, showcasing her dedication to her craft.
In January 2012, Leslie was found unresponsive at her home in Buffalo, with three prescription drugs near her body. Despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead shortly after. Leslie had been battling depression and was reportedly planning to enter rehab before her untimely passing.
Leslie was married to Mike Ashton, drummer of The Other Half, and they had a daughter named Alyssa Jane in 2011. Tragically, Alyssa was only one when Leslie passed away. In 2019, allegations of sexual abuse surfaced from Leslie’s younger brother Aaron, who claimed he was abused by his sister between the ages of 10 and 13.
The Carter family continues to cope with the loss of both Leslie and Aaron, who also succumbed to a multiple drug overdose in 2022.
