Former Ghana goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has expressed his excitement over the progress of his former teammate, Stanley Nwabali, who Dauda played with back in 2019 during their time at Nigerian club Eyimba FC.

Dauda, who currently serves as a goalkeepers coach for the Black Stars, played a role in mentoring Nwabali when he was a young goalkeeper at Eyimba. Nwabali has since made a name for himself, particularly during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations where he helped Nigeria reach the finals, although they ultimately lost to Ivory Coast.

The Chippa United goalkeeper’s outstanding performance has not gone unnoticed, as several clubs in Europe and Asia have shown interest in signing him. Dauda, reflecting on their time together, took to social media to wish Nwabali continued success in his career.

“We used to share the same locker room in Aba Nigeria 2019, with the most successful club in Nigeria (Enyimba International Football Club), the People’s Elephant. Keep on being a listener as always. Stanley Nwabali aka “BoBo” stay focused and keep pushing, I wish you all the best in your career,” Dauda wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The two former teammates had a chance to catch up recently when Ghana faced Nigeria in a friendly match in Marrakech last month. Dauda’s support and well wishes are a testament to the strong bond and friendship that has endured between the two players since their time together in Nigeria.
