An English actress and director, Emily “Eve” Best. She is well-known for her television appearances as Dr. Eleanor O’Hara in the Showtime series Nurse Jackie, First Lady Dolley Madison in the television special American Experience, and Monica Chatwin in the BBC drama The Honourable Woman.
Best was raised in Ladbroke Grove, London, as the daughter of an actress and a design journalist.
When she was nine years old, she made her debut with the London-based W11 Opera children’s opera group.
Prior to enrolling in Lincoln College, Oxford, where she studied English, she attended Wycombe Abbey Girls’ School.
She made her professional debut as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing at the Southwark Playhouse after graduating from Oxford, where she had acted in Oxford University Dramatic Society performances and at the Edinburgh Festival.
