Born in Canada on August 7, 1979, actor Eric Johann Johnson is best known for playing Flash Gordon on the television series of the same name that ran from 2007 to 2008, Whitney Fordman on the science fiction series Smallville, Detective Luke Callaghan on the police drama Rookie Blue, and Jack Hyde in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie series.
Since 2022, he has been playing a corrupt chauvinist sheriff in the HBO Max horror series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.
At the age of nine, Johnson’s parents put him in Stage Polaris, an Edmonton-based theater group, where he began his performing career. In the 1994 movie Legends of the Fall, Johnson portrayed the younger version of Brad Pitt’s character.
Johnson played the starring role in the acclaimed Canadian movie Scorn. His breakthrough performance as Whitney Fordman, a football jock, and adversary to Clark Kent on Smallville, occurred in 2001.
