Enrique Tarrio ran in the Republican primary election for Florida’s 27th congressional district in 2020 but dropped out.
Tarrio has previously acted as an informant to both federal and local law enforcement, according to a former federal prosecutor and transcripts of a 2014 federal court case.

Tarrio moved to a tiny hamlet in North Florida to operate a chicken farm after 2004. Later, he returned to Miami.
He has also established a company that installs security systems and another that provides GPS tracking for businesses. Tarrio operates the 1776 Shop, a Miami T-shirt company that sells right-wing items online. According to Slate, the 1776 Shop is a “freewheeling online bazaar for far-right kitsch” that offers Proud Boys stuff such as shirts that say “Pinochet did nothing wrong.”
