The founder and former editor of The Business of Film Elspeth Tavares have died at her home after a short illness and the age of 71.
Tavares was a co-founder of The Women’s International Film and Television Showcase (WIFTS), a non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing outstanding women in film and television.

Tavares founded The Business of Film, the first international trade publication to go completely electronic and to introduce online interactivity between advertisers and readers.
She rose to the position of Managing Director of Screen International, restructuring the company and turning it into a profitable enterprise.
Elspeth took pride in pioneering new technologies, and the publication was the first to switch from paper to e-mail delivery.
No autopsy report has been released for the legendary publisher as of yet.
According to her family, she died peacefully at her home in London after battling a short illness.
