They met at a Vanity Fair Oscar after-party in 1999. After what was a little more than a year’s courtship, they got married in the June of 2000.
The marriage would not survive for more than five years.
Why did Ellen Barkin and Ronald Perelman divorce?
Due to Barkin’s acting career and her attendant travel schedule, their marriage has its issues. Perelman filed for divorce in early 2006 and they were officially divorced in 2006.
However, there were later conflicts after their divorce. In late 2007, Barkin sued Perelman for $3.4 million. The divorce settlement required Perelman to invest several million dollars in Barkin’s film production company which she started with her brother.
Perelman only made one payment and made a countersuit claiming that Barkin and her brother had looted the film company for themselves.
He was ordered to pay her $4.3 million.
