Gu was born in the United States to an American father and a Chinese mother. It was then that he discovered his passion for skiing. In 2018, she was representing the United States at the World Cup for the sport.
Then she made the decision to switch from representing the United States to representing China.
Gu is a worldwide ambassador for Tiffany & Co., a Louis Vuitton associate, and most recently a brand ambassador for Swiss timepiece IWC Schaffhausen.
