Eden Hazard quits international football at age 31

The fallouts in the Belgian national team continues unabated following their abysmal performance at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

It is not shocking at all that just a few days after they crashed out of the tournament at the group stage Edin Hazard announced his retirement from the national team.

Their participation at the FIFA World Cup was characterized by misunderstandings and fights that seriously affected team cohesion, hence their early exit.

It is not too clear right now if the rift in the Belgian team is what influenced his decision to quit playing international football. The Instagram post announcing his retirement simply read: “A page turns today… Thank you for your love.

Thank you for your unparalleled support. Thank you for all this happiness shared since 2008. I have decided to put an end to my international career. The succession is ready. I will miss you….#onestensemble”

Hazard has been an integral part of the golden generation of the Belgian team for almost a decade. His absence from the team will surely be felt.
