On September 13, 1995, Eddy Pineiro Jr., a placekicker with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League, was born. Prior to signing as an undrafted free agent with the Oakland Raiders in 2018 and the Chicago Bears the following year, he played college football for Florida.

Prior to being traded to Chicago on May 6, 2019, in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Pineiro was one of nine kickers who participated in the Bears’ 2019 summer kicking competition to succeed Cody Parkey.

In search of a new kicker after the Bears’ “Double-Doink” playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, coach Matt Nagy organized the tryout.

Pineiro kicked field goals of 21 and 58 yards against the Indianapolis Colts in a preseason game on August 24. Additionally, he scored all of his extra points. Pineiro finished the 2019 preseason by making 8 of 9 field goals and 3 of 4 extra points.

He failed to convert a 48-yard field goal against the Carolina Panthers on August 8 and a very wide left extra point against the Tennessee Titans on August 29.
