Candy Cane Lane, a Christmas comedy directed by Reginald Hudlin for Prime Video, will star Eddie Murphy.
The comedy, which was made by Amazon Studios, Imagine Entertainment, and Eddie Murphy Productions, started out as Kelly Younger’s spec writing, which was influenced by her early memories of family vacations. This winter, production will start in Los Angeles.
In addition to Brian Grazer, Karen Lunder, president of films at Imagine, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster, Murphy is also producing. The Boomerang gang from 1992 is back again for this movie. This is their eighth time working together, according to Grazer. Production will start this winter in Los Angeles, with plot specifics being kept under wraps.
For presenting Saturday Night Live 35 years after leaving the program to become one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, with hits like 48 Hours, Beverly Hills Cop, and Trading Places among his accomplishments, Murphy just won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.
All of those were theatrical movies, but recently, he has been successful in the streaming industry, garnering positive reviews for his role as Rudy Ray Moore in the Netflix film Dolemite Is My Name.
He is producing and acting in the Netflix original movies You People, directed by Kenya Barris, and Beverly Hills Cop 4 with Jonah Hill.
