Global superstar Ed Sheeran recently shared an unusual project. According to him, he has been digging his own grave in his backyard.

The singer-songwriter, known for hits like “Shape of You,” made this revelation in an interview with GQ Hype, published on Thursday.

Sheeran, 32, clarified that it’s not a crypt but rather a simple hole in the ground with some stones placed over it. He explained, “It’s a place where I can mourn people in my life who have passed away.” The inspiration for this unusual endeavor struck him during its construction, realizing that he wanted to be laid to rest there so that his daughters, Lyra and Jupiter, could remember him in a unique way. Ed Sheeran shares these two children with his wife, Cherry Seaborn.

He also revealed that he has hosted friends’ weddings in the same area, adding to the unconventional character of this backyard space.

While some might find the concept peculiar, Sheeran explained, “People think it’s really weird and really morbid, but I’ve had friends die without wills, and no one knows what to do.”

Ed Sheeran is known for his candid and sometimes eccentric stories. Just earlier this week, he shared an amusing anecdote about getting exceptionally high with rap icon Snoop Dogg after the rapper’s performance in Melbourne.

Sheeran, along with Russell Crowe, found themselves going “blunt for blunt for blunt for blunt” during their hangout session.

Reflecting on the experience, Sheeran humorously recounted on Conan O’Brien’s podcast, “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” how he progressively lost his vision as the night went on, stating, “I just remember looking at him like, ‘I can’t see right now.'”
