ECG to undertake nationwide meter audit effective Thursday, Feb. 1

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced that it will conduct a nationwide meter audit starting on February 1. The event is scheduled to happen all year round.

They state that to confirm the integrity of all post-paid and prepaid meters within the ECG’s operational zones, the audit will entail a thorough inspection of both the front and back of each meter.

The ECG emphasized that they are mandated to have access to all of their installations at any time and from any location, by the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission’s LI 2413 (2020).

“Therefore, any attempt to physically prevent or deliberately frustrate ECG teams to assess your assigned meter will lead to the disconnection of the service to your house.”

To ensure the legitimacy of ECG teams visiting customer properties, the company asked customers to inspect the ECG personnel’s identification cards and stay cautious to avoid contact with imposters.
