After the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)  launched a massive disconnection campaign to recover revenue owed to them on Monday, March 20, there has been positive feedback to this.

Per our findings, the (ECG), has recovered over GHȼ18 million owed by three renowned public institutions in the country.

The sum in question is part of a total of GH¢ 47 million owned by Parliament, Ghana Airport Company Limited, and the Ghana Broadcasting Company – GBC.

These recoveries did not come on a silver platter as a task force was sent to these institutions to make their rightful claim in unpaid fees.

In one instance at the Ghana Airport Company Limited, the security guards resisted the team (taskforce), which included media practitioners, for allegedly “invading” their premises.

Though the security action sparked some chaotic reactions, later officials of the two firms reached a consensus with GACL making an initial payment of  GH¢ 10 million dollars.  GACL also agreed to pay their outstanding debt in full in two weeks’ time.
