The Eastern Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised an impressive GHS 5.4 million to support their flagbearer, John Mahama, in his campaign for the 2024 election.
This significant amount was generated from donations by businessmen, party members, and well-wishers during a fundraising event at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
The event, chaired by Capt. Rtd. Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Co-founder of the defunct UT bank, was attended by John Mahama, his running mate Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Members of Parliament from the region, and party executives from both the regional and national levels.
Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, expressed his gratitude to all attendees for their support, emphasizing the importance of their commitment to the party’s values. He urged everyone to uphold the party’s principles of social justice, equality, and progress as they work towards a prosperous and inclusive Ghana.
John Mahama, in his address, acknowledged the stakeholders’ contributions to the party’s growth and sustainability, urging them to unite behind him in his bid to win power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He emphasized the need for a solid support base to achieve success in the upcoming election.
The fundraising event not only showcased the financial backing for John Mahama’s campaign but also highlighted the unity and determination of the NDC members to work towards a common goal.
