Dynamic Works Foundation, in partnership with KGL Foundation, has launched the Adolescent Girls Empowerment project in the Nkwata South Municipality.

The main goal of this initiative is to uplift young girls in the areas of education, health, and self-confidence, targeting the prevalent challenges faced by adolescent girls in the region.

One of the key focuses of the project is addressing the significant education barriers faced by young girls. Shocking statistics reveal that there were 322,121 reported pregnancies among young girls between 2021 and 2023, with the Ghana Health Service documenting 555,575 cases of adolescent pregnancies from 2016 to 2020. In 2023 alone, 10.6% of teenage girls, including those in basic schools, experienced pregnancies in Ghana.

Gloria Cann, the Executive Director of Dynamic Works Foundation, emphasized the critical need to provide vulnerable adolescent girls with quality education, which is essential for both personal and national development. The project places a strong emphasis on sex education and preventive measures to combat early pregnancies and risky sexual activities.

The mission of the project is to educate 2,350 basic school girls and boys on the causes and prevention of teenage pregnancies. Additionally, the initiative aims to establish 21 school-based “Dynamic Groups” to address related issues effectively, monitor absenteeism in 25 beneficiary schools, and reintegrate at least 5 girls who have been affected by recent school closures due to communal conflicts.

The wide-reaching impact of the project is expected to benefit approximately 2,350 basic school pupils aged 10-15, along with educators, local government officials, traditional leaders, and persons with disabilities. This enhanced awareness and participation in the project’s activities aim to create a positive change in the lives of these young individuals.

Richard Apau, the School Improvement Support Officer, commended the initiative, noting that financial constraints leading to teenage pregnancies contribute to a 15% annual dropout rate among adolescents in the Nkwanta South Municipality, particularly affecting girls.

Established in 2020 by Mrs. Gloria Cann, Dynamic Works Foundation is dedicated to promoting adolescent welfare, talent development, and education. Operating from Madina, Accra, the organization is committed to nurturing young talents and supporting the education of underprivileged children.
