Ex-Chairman of Parliament’s Committee on Roads and Transport and former Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency, Samuel Ayeh-Paye, has assured Ghanaians that the government is taking decisive action to address the recent power challenges, also known as ‘dumsor’.

During an interview on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, the former MP emphasized that the Akufo-Addo administration is committed to resolving the issues and anticipates that they will be resolved by the end of May 2024.

“We’ve maintained a consistent power supply for the past seven years. The recent outages are temporary and we are actively working to rectify them. By the end of next month [May], these interruptions will be a thing of the past,” Mr. Ayeh-Paye stated, urging patience from the public as measures are being implemented to tackle the challenges.

Furthermore, he disclosed that the Twin City Energy power project, which commenced commercial operations on July 30, 2021, has been completed and is ready to be integrated into the national grid to improve the electricity situation.

While the Volta River Authority (VRA) has not yet provided a specific timetable for the connection, Mr. Ayeh-Paye affirmed that the power situation is expected to be resolved by the close of May, negating the necessity for a published schedule.
