Daughter of Dubai ruler and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikha Mahra, has taken to Instagram to announce her divorce from her husband.
The verified Instagram post by Princess Sheikha Mahra bint Mihammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum signaled the end of their one-year marriage.
In the post, Sheikha Mahra declared her divorce from her husband with a straightforward message, saying, “Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce. I divorce you, I divorce you, I Divorce you. Take Care. Your Ex-Wife.” The post was shared on her Instagram page on Tuesday, July 16, and has received support from her followers.
The announcement seems to follow the Islamic practice of “triple talaq,” where a man can divorce his wife by uttering or writing the word talaq (Arabic for “divorce”) three times. Despite Sheikha Mahra’s public statement, her husband Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum has not commented publicly on the matter.
Sheikha Mahra and her husband had been married since April 2023, and five months after their wedding, they announced their pregnancy with their first child. The princess had shared photos of their ultrasound and later posted images of their newborn child. However, as of July 18, all pictures of her husband have been removed from her Instagram page.
The news of Sheikha Mahra’s divorce has sparked reactions and discussions online, with many offering their support and understanding to the princess during this time.
