Drinking spot operator in court for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs

A 52-year-old drinking spot operator who was known as such a decent operator in the aforementioned has been seen in his possession lots of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic drugs has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

George Akoto, charged with unlawful possession of narcotic drugs, pleaded not guilty.

Acquah admitted that Akoto was to bail in the sum of GHC100,000 with three sureties, one to be justified with landed property.

Meanwhile, the matter has been adjourned to February 12, 2024.

However, the prosecution noted that the complainants in the case and the policemen worked for the police intelligence directorate.

In addition to the aforementioned, the prosecution also said that the accused person operates a spot on June 4th, a suburb of Accra.

On January 19, 2024, the Police Intelligence Directorate, in collaboration with the newly formed known police unit, normally or formerly called FPU, embarked on a special assignment, thus leading to his arrest.

According to the prosecution, the team, during their exercises, was noted to have arrested about 62 suspects, including the accused person.

The prosecution said efforts were being made to get the said man arrested to assist.
