South African business mogul and philanthropist Dr Dan Pasiya has passed away.
The Mthatha native and businessman, whose real name is Dr Dan Malibongwe Pasiya, passed away at Life Beacon Bay Hospital in East London on Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was 88.
He was a renowned businessman, philanthropist, rural development champion and sports administrator.
“Dr Pasiya died on Saturday at Life Beacon Bay Hospital in East London where he was admitted for over a month. His passing left the family devastated,” his family said in a statement.
“In a typical Dr Pasiya’s way of life, a generous heart oozing love and warmth to those around him; we will celebrate his life more than mourning his departure.
“The family has noted Dr Pasiya’s immense contribution to both rural and urban communities’ development initiatives, and his endless endeavors towards job creation and poverty alleviation.
“His passion for education can never be forgotten.
“We cannot turn a blind eye to many whose livelihood depended largely on his businesses.
“We are also humbled by the Eastern Cape provincial government’s consideration to have Dr Pasiya’s funeral declared a provincial funeral status,” the statement added.
