The Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission-Ghana has received praise from Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for their enormous commitment to health and education, which has improved national development and peace.
The Vice President, who also serves as the NPP’s flagbearer, expressed gratitude at the Gomoa Pomadze, close to Winneba Junction, opening ceremony for the 91st Annual National Convention (Jalsa) and the 100th anniversary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission-Ghana.
Commencing on Thursday, February 22, the 91st Convention (Jalisa) with the theme, “A Century of Islamic Revival in Ghana,” was scheduled to culminate on Saturday, February 24.
Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the majority leader, Mr. Asamoah Boateng, the minister for chieftaincy and religious affairs, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, the central regional minister, ministers of state, and numerous others followed the vice president.
Members of the Mission from Uganda, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Benin, Togo, Italy, and the 16 provinces of Ghana also attended.
One hundred years of sowing the seed of Islam in what was then the Gold Coast, according to Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, highlighted the degree to which the Ahmadiyya community was promoting global brotherhood in the nation in accordance with Islamic principles.
“This occasion of thanksgiving to Almighty Allah demonstrates the Ahmadiyya community’s profound gratitude to Allah for the immense favour on us and the creation of an environment that has facilitated the propagation of the message of Islam Ahmadiyya,” he stated.
He stated that giving thanks to Allah and celebrating the 100th anniversary gave them a special chance to remember and imitate the commitment and sacrifices made by the first pioneer missionaries.
He encouraged them to keep on their observance of the Sunar of the Holy Prophet Mohammed and the teachings of the Holy Quran, making various contributions to the nation’s progress as they did over the previous 100 years.
The revered Maulana Abdul-Raheem Nayyar, of blessed memory, was a missionary who traveled by sea and settled at the then-Saltpond Sea Port, where he sowed the seeds of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission. Maulvi Naeem Ahmad Cheema, the missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana, gave a brief account of how the mission began in the country a century ago.
According to him, the purpose of Jalsa is to thank Allah for all of the blessings that have enabled them to go this far.
He urged Muslims, especially the younger generation, to keep in mind that the word Islam, which the holy Prophet Mohammed himself bestowed upon their faith, signifies peace and delineates the characteristics of a genuine Muslim.
He clarified that a devout Muslim protected people, blood, and property with his tongue and hand.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, according to Maulvi Cheema, has developed from its modest origins into a recognized religious organization in the nation.
