The Municipal Chief Executive of La Nkwantanang-Madina, Jennifer Dede Adjabeng, has emphasized the importance of peace and unity among the youth during election periods. Speaking at the “Citizens Week” organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in the municipality, she urged the youth to refrain from being used by politicians to incite violence.
The theme for the event was “Together we Can build Ghana, So Get involved” with a sub-theme of “Children, Come Let’s Build Ghana.” Mrs. Adjabeng encouraged the children to set goals, work hard, and remain determined in all their endeavors, emphasizing the benefits of having a positive mindset.
She also challenged the students, particularly the girls, to take up leadership roles in school, including male-dominated positions like cadet commanders. Mrs. Adjabeng highlighted the importance of academic success, respect, obedience, and discipline in shaping responsible adulthood.
Madam Doris Agyeman, the Municipal NCCE Director, advised the children to be tolerant, perform their citizenship duties, and uphold national symbols and values. The Headmistress of SDA School, Madam Beatrice Opoku, appealed for support in providing furniture for the school and addressing a private property issue on the school’s premises. In response, the MCE donated an amount of GHS5,000 to the school.
The event underscored the need for young people to actively engage in nation-building and uphold democratic principles. It serves as a reminder for all citizens to promote peace, unity, and civic responsibility for a better Ghana.
