Donny Hathaway who lived from October 1, 1945, and died on January 13, 1979, was a soul singer, keyboardist, songwriter, and arranger from the United States.

The Ghetto, This Christmas, Someday We’ll All Be Free, and Little Ghetto Boy are among his most popular tunes.

All three of his daughters have followed in his footsteps into the world of entertainment.

In 1969, Hathaway released his first song under his own name, I Thank You, Baby, a duet with singer June Conquest. They also recorded a duet called Just Another Reason, which was issued as the B-side.

He worked on the arrangements for the Unifics’ songs Court of Love and The Beginning of My End, as well as collaborations with the Staple Singers.

Hathaway recorded his first song, The Ghetto, Pt. 1, which debuted on his debut album Everything Is Everything the following year. After being recognized by producer/musician King Curtis, Hathaway signed to Atco Records, then a branch of Atlantic Records, that year.
