The Commonwealth of Dominica has reiterated its support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Morocco over all its territory, including the Moroccan Sahara.

This reaffirmation came in a Joint Communiqué following discussions between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy of Dominica, Vince Henderson.

During the talks in Rabat, Henderson reinforced his country’s endorsement of the Autonomy Plan proposed by Morocco in 2007 as the most viable solution to the ongoing conflict concerning the Moroccan Sahara. He also commended the UN’s efforts in providing a viable framework for a pragmatic and enduring resolution to the regional dispute.

As a member of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Dominica welcomed the establishment of an OECS Embassy in Rabat on October 18, 2018, and a Consulate General in Dakhla on March 31, 2022. These diplomatic initiatives are seen as opportunities to enhance bilateral relations between Morocco and the six Eastern Caribbean States.

The Communique highlighted the significance of these developments in further strengthening the ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Eastern Caribbean States. The joint statement emphasized the importance of consolidating exchanges between the two regions for mutual benefit and cooperation.
