Ghanaian celebrity blogger and founder of www.zionfelix.com, Zionfelix Nana Yaw Adomako, has raised a concern about how radio tour purposely meant for promoting singles constantly flop.
Zion’s concern was the fact that, despite the intensive radio promo, some musicians who participate in such promos flop at the end of the day.
He wrote (Unscripted): “Does music promo tour on radio stations make songs hit?
Every artiste releases a song with the aim of it becoming a hit song. One of the many means they use in achieving their aim is by touring radio stations to grant interviews.
Some musicians only remember certain radio stations only when they want to promote their songs but that’s not the issue now.
I’ve followed certain musicians keenly for sometime now but I’ve realised that even though they are heard on almost all radio stations in the country just to promote one single, these songs do not even fall within 10 hit songs in the country.
Acts like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, E.L and others hardly embark on this radio tour to promote just a single song but their songs become hits.
So I’m like, is it that the songs these artistes promote are not good or radio promotion doesn’t do the thing again?
I can name many musicians who’ve toured many radio stations to promote their singles but still.
The number of artistes who’ve troop to Pluzz FM to premiere their songs on Samuel Atuobi Baah entertainment morning show are countless but still. Almost every entertainment show interviews a musician or two who mainly visit the station to promote their singles but these songs still get nowhere.
What’s happening in our industry?”
Some of his friends also gave some response that are worth sharing.
