Clive Jay Davis, an American record producer, A&R executive, record executive, and attorney, was born on April 4, 1932.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 as a non-performer and has received five Grammy Awards.

In 1953, he received a magna cum laude degree in political science and Phi Beta Kappa from the New York University College of Arts and Sciences, which he also attended. He attended Harvard Law School on a full scholarship and graduated in 1956 while serving on the Board of Student Advisers.
After practising law at a tiny New York firm for two years, Davis joined Rosenman, Colin, Kaye, Petschek, and Freund, where partner Ralph Colin represented CBS.
At the age of 28, Davis was later hired by Harvey Schein, a former coworker at the company, to serve as Columbia Records’ associate counsel, then the next year, as general counsel.
