Austin Robert Butler is an American actor. He began his career on television and had a guest role in two episodes of the teen show Hannah Montana in the early 2000s. In addition to playing major roles in The Carrie Diaries and The Shannara Chronicles, he appeared frequently in the television series Switched at Birth.

Austin Robert Butler was born in August of 1991 in the state of California, to Lori Anne Howell, and David Butler. He was the second child of the couple and had an older sister named Ashley Butler who was born five years earlier.
His mother Lori worked as an aesthetician in a medical facility in California. His sister Ashley also began her career in acting and featured as a background actor alongside him on Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide. His parents divorced when he was just seven years old.
In 2014 it was reported that Lori Butler had passed away after a long battle with cancer.
