Ghanaian actor John Peasah, popularly known as Drogba from the TV series YOLO, has shared his battle with Sleep Apnea, which he was recently diagnosed with alongside his Stiff Person Syndrome condition.
Peasah revealed that he was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome earlier this year and has been undergoing various medical treatments. Despite this, he has not seen any improvements in his condition, prompting him to seek medical treatment abroad.
During an interview on Hitz FM, Peasah discussed his struggles with the medical condition, stating, “Regarding my treatment, I realized that anytime I got to the hospital I don’t respond to treatment. That is where they noticed that I’m suffering from Stiff Person Syndrome, and it took them four months to diagnose me.”
He further explained, “My neurologist at the Bank Hospital was the one who diagnosed the whole thing for me. At the end of the day, Korle-Bu came up with the same thing.”
In addition to his Stiff Person Syndrome, Peasah also disclosed that he has been diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, a condition where he stops breathing during sleep. He now has to use a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine to assist with his breathing while sleeping.
Peasah expressed his confusion and frustration with his health issues, stating, “My own, I don’t know where it is coming from, so that is how come it confuses the doctor; they don’t know what is going on, and we know that Stiff Person Syndrome is very hard to diagnose.”
Despite the challenges he is facing, Peasah remains hopeful and determined to seek the necessary medical treatment to improve his health and overall well-being.
