Do not vote based on ethnicity-Queenmother to citizens

Mama Bobi III, Queenmother of the Bake Clan of Ho Bankoe, claims that if Ghanaians continue to vote mainly on money incentives and ethnicity, the country will not advance.

She underlined that unless voters cease choosing candidates based on things like ethnic affinities or who provides the most money, the nation will experience difficulties in developing.

During the Constitution Day events in the Volta Region, Mama Bobi spoke about these ideas on behalf of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE). She emphasized that Ghanaians’ voting patterns are indicative of the politicians they support.

Mama Bobi stated that the need to review the 1992 Constitution seeks to address society’s changing requirements and ensure that laws remain relevant. She emphasized that topics such as artificial intelligence (AI) were not considered when the Constitution was established 31 years ago, but that it is now critical for laws to keep up with evolving technologies.

She stressed the significance of Constitution Day, citing it as a reminder that the country is controlled by rules. She went on to say that every citizen is responsible for adhering to the law and understanding their rights and responsibilities under it.

Mama Bobi also emphasized the importance of refocusing conversations on critical issues in order to ensure the success of the Constitution Review process.

She emphasized that this should not be altered out of hatred or disagreement with particular people or those in positions of authority.

As the nation commemorated this year’s Constitution Day, Kenneth Kponor, the NCCE’s Volta Regional Director, stated that it was imperative that all citizens pledge to uphold peace prior to, during, and following the general election in 2024.

Mr. Kponor continued, saying that all Ghanaians should be proud of the 31 years that the 4th Republican Constitution has been upheld, as well as the advantages that stable foreign investments and other factors have brought about. GNA
