DJ Casper was a well-known American DJ, hype man, and songwriter. He was born May 31, 1971, in Chicago, Illinois, United States and was named Willie Perry Jr. He got the name Casper due to frequently being clad in all white attire on stage.
Casper’s first hit song, Casper Slide Pt. 1 or Cha Cha Slide, was created for his nephew. He then created a second song in 2000, titled “Casper Slide” Pt. 2, after the song became popular as an aerobic exercise in school gymnastics and physical education clubs.
The song became a hit in Chicago in 2004, when M.O.B. Records was also involved, helping Casper create a full compilation album with other Chicago artists to promote the dance. “Cha Cha Slide” was later picked up by Universal Records.
