The FC Juarez striker passed away in an early-morning vehicle accident on Wednesday, according to a social media post from his team.

Chávez, who was born in Veracruz, Mexico, debuted in Liga MX in 2015 with the local team Club Deportivo Veracruz.
Chávez, who was a front-line and midfield player, later played for Necaxa and Toluca among other Mexican teams. Before returning to FC Juarez in 2023, he played for the team in two different stints from 2016 to 2017.
Chávez also played overseas for Salamanca, a lower league team in Spain, and Carlos Mannucci, a high division team in Peru.
The last time Chávez was listed on the gameday roster was for FC Juarez’s away game against Chivas on Saturday.
