Dido is the stage name of English singer-songwriter Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O’Malley Armstrong (born December 25, 1971).

With her debut album No Angel, she achieved international success (1999).

“Here with Me” and “Thank You” are two of the album’s top singles. Her numerous accolades, including two Brit Awards for Best British Album and Best British Female, as well as the MTV Europe Music Award for Best New Act, came as a result of its global sales of over 21 million copies.

In “Stan,” a joint effort with American rapper Eminem, the first verse of “Thank You” is sampled. Her following album, Life for Rent (2003), featured the popular singles “White Flag” and “Life for Rent,” which helped her maintain her success. Dido participated in the Band Aid 20 rendition of the charity hit “Do They Know It’s Christmas” in 2004 together with other British and Irish musicians.

Among the best-selling albums in UK chart history are Dido’s first two studio albums. She was nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song for “If I Rise.” Safe Trip Home, her third studio album, was well-received by critics but fell short of her previous albums’ sales success.

Dido’s fourth studio album, Girl Who Got Away, marked her comeback in 2013. Still, on My Mind, her fifth studio album was released on March 8th, 2019. The British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors honored him with the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection.
