Jelani Maraj, Nicki Minaj’s older brother, was found guilty of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child for raping his young stepdaughter and received a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
The stepdaughter of Nicki Minaj, who was just 11 years old at the time, was repeatedly raped by her stepbrother, 41-year-old Jelani Maraj, according to the Nassau County District Attorney. He received a 25–life sentence for his crimes.
Maraj was found guilty of the abuse that began in 2015 on charges of predatory sexual assault and acting in a way that injured a child, and his verdict comes two years after that conviction.
The Nassau County District Attorney issued the following statement to HollywoodLife: “Judge Robert McDonald sentenced Jelani Maraj to 25 years to life in prison this morning. The Nassau County district attorney’s office asked for a maximum of 25-year to life sentences.
Did Nicki Minaj testify for her brother?
Nicki was supposed to testify at her brother’s trial, but she did not. The “Anaconda” rapper was supposed to testify for Maraj’s brother during his trial in Long Island, New York, but that never happened.
